(Note: this is not Building Insurance, it is a specialist policy that sits alongside your Building Insurance and protects you against defaulting tenants)
It is ONLY available for properties managed by an Approved Property Management Company and landlords cannot buy this product direct. If you withdraw the property from the management of an Approved Property Management Company the policy is cancelled, but it can be transferred between Approved companies.

We had two terrible experiences with a well known kiwi insurance firm. In both our nightmare cases we would have had full coverage IF we had this policy. One was an absconding tenant and the other was malicious damage, fairly typical and costly circumstances in our experience.
Since bringing the policy on board we have successfully claimed $985.00 for Loss of Rent that the landlord suffered because the tenant absconded (vacated without giving notice) with arrears and also for the period of 3 weeks after when the property was still vacant. Premiums are $310.00 incl GST per property per annum, or a small discount for owners insuring 3 or more properties. We can organise cover for you, pay the premium from rents received, and all you need to do is fill in the application form (with disclosure questions answered) and then instruct us by faxing or posting back to us.
